Migrating Acquisitions Data: Smooth Move, or Electric Boogaloo?

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

As library and data professionals, we have a tendency to hoard information for possible later use, and -- auditing purposes aside -- acquisitions data is certainly no exception. But when does it make sense to migrate legacy acquisitions data, and which data is of tantamount importance to keep? Furthermore, how might a migration shape and develop acquisitions practice and policy for the library? This session will provide an overview of the opportunities and challenges faced when deciding whether to migrate acquisitions data from a legacy system to Alma. Examples and considerations from CSUDH's migration experience will be discussed.
