Hacking VuFind Combined Search and making Bento Searching easy

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Over last few years, Bento Box Searching has become the new hip. During the Summer of 2016, the Cheng Library of William Paterson University began a usability testing regimen to develop and deploy a bento box interface for our discovery layer (VuFind) to most of our electronic resources.  The presentation will cover the process of the testing, the development, and the deployment of the interface. We will also share the experience of customizing or hacking VuFind Combined Search (Bento Box Layer), such as jumping out of VuFind built-in API integration and redirecting record URLs back to Summon, Primo or EDS’ commercial discovery interface, adding more Bento components that Vufind does not support, etc.
